“Make Indiana Healthy Again” — but cut Medicaid?
Gov. Braun has proclaimed "Make Indiana Healthy Again" * — but also issued an executive order signaling his support for new restrictions on Medicaid. Nearly one of every three Hoosiers uses Medicaid. IndyStar reports: "Thousands of Hoosiers could lose access to Medicaid under the contentious priority bill Indiana lawmakers sent Gov. Mike Braun's desk, which calls for more stringent eligibility checks, work requirements and limits on enrollment."
* From Jay Chaudhary, former director of the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction: "I may not agree with all the elements of austerity-minded fiscal conservatism, but I respect the principles behind them. ... But don’t call it a public health agenda. Don’t pretend this is about making Hoosiers healthy when the real goal is cutting costs."
